Abstract

A Theoretical Basis for In-Class DemonstrationsAbstractA session of the ASEE Mechanics division which has drawn interest in recent years is the demonstrationsession. In it, participants describe presentation tools and activities that have been used in classroomlectures. Their observations have led them to conclude that the use of relatively simple and/orinexpensive demonstrations result in a more effective learning experience. This paper will discusstheories which can be used to design still more effective classroom demonstrations implementing thestructure of scientific learning and cognitive dissonance.
