) reported thatwomen are underrepresented in the STEM workforce compared to the proportion of womenwithin the U.S. population, only accounting for 16% of engineers and 26% of computer andmathematical scientists [3]. Improving the diversity of the STEM workforce could foster newideas and perspectives, catalyzing the design of more inclusive and innovative engineeringsolutions that reflect the needs of a diverse society, similar to how corporate firms with gender-diverse boards showed higher innovation performance [4].
