It was inspired by a round tablediscussion, where engineering graduates of Region’s colleges have suggested ways to startdeveloping viable and enduring connections between local industries and the academicinstitutions of the Arab Gulf States. Strategies to help promote the collaboration effort areoutlined. A student-teacher connection formedduring a capstone design course in 1986 led to a professional relationship maturing over theensuing years through intermittent but substantive communications.
