researchersand funding agencies to understand broadening participation, the realities of engineering andengineering education as a system that marginalizes students and perpetuates systemic inequitiesis well known. In her 2022 ASEE presentation (Grant et al., 2022), Stephanie Masta calledattention to this reality, noting that we already know about student marginalization (broadly inthe research literature, locally in our own settings). And, she named research on marginalizationas frequently re-traumatizing for students. While at one point there may have been a worthwhiletradeoff between telling the truth about these realities versus re-traumatization, over time thetradeoff looks more dubious. If we already know that students are marginalized, why should

to emphasize topics appropriate for their majors. In addition, eachdepartment also developed a collaborative, hands-on design project to include in the course thatwould be appropriate and engaging for their students [16]. The topics of the design projectsimplemented were a robotics design task for EECS students, a reverse engineering and 3Dprinting task for MIEN students, and a water filtration project for CHNG students. Encouragedby the promising results observed from the 2020 and 2021 offering of the course for students inthe EECS, MIEN, and CHNG departments, an additional version of the course was developedand integrated into the curriculum for students in the Civil and Architectural EngineeringDepartment (CAEN) in 2022. understanding faculty and staff ideas of wellness in engineering culture, wedeveloped semi-structured interview protocols [31] informed by the cultural framework ofengineering proposed by Godfrey and Parker [20]. We used a semi-structured protocol toaugment the richness of our data and the first four interviews were used to inform furtherquestion development and refinement. Specifically, the goal of this paper is to qualitativelyanalyze and synthesize what faculty and staff imagine a culture of wellness would be like inengineering. During the spring semester of 2022, we performed virtual interviews withparticipants via Zoom. We collected consent forms prior to data collection and interviewed eachparticipant once. Interviews lasted for 41 minutes on

Pedagogies of FP can be found at [8], [9].Starting in 2022, we chose F# as the programming language to teach FP to undergraduatestudents in a programming paradigms class (3-credit-hour). F# is a functional-first, multiple-paradigm programming language that runs on the .NET platform [10]. Visual Studio 2022(integrated development environment, IDE) and/or Visual Studio Code (code editor) are the toolsof our choice. F# has been supported by the .Net platform since .Net 1.0 back in the early 2000s,so any recent .Net releases, such as .Net 6.0 and 7.0, can support F# with little to no problem. The rest of the paper is organized as

Inany case, all project reports and videos for the Fall 2022, Spring 2023 and Fall 2023 semestersexhibited no signs of NLP generated text, images, videos or audio. Instead of comparing the useof NLP tools over time, a comparison can be made between cohorts of students to infer adoption © American Society for Engineering Education, 2024 2024 ASEE Midwest Section Conferencespeed. I have my own unique way of being creative and at the same time dealing with problem solving. I also have highly developed technical skills. These are some of the reasons why I am so passionate about becoming an engineer. I have my Pre-Engineering, Associate of Science and Computer Aided Drafting & Design certificate. I received my degree and certificate back in April 2019 at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. I am currently enrolled at Navajo Technical University. Therefore, the senior-level design course Coastal Engineering was modifiedin 2022 with the addition of teamwork elements in two course components: homeworkassignments and in-class quizzes. The homework assignments were completed in small groups, with teams submitting a joint homework solution. The objective of assigning homework to groupsrather than individuals was to have students work together and discuss the problems and courseconcepts.
