The work reported in this paper is basedon an earlier work published in ASEE by the current author along with the other co-authors [8],and the work presented by one of the students at MS&T conference [9]. The senior electivecourse is offered as an independent study few times with enrollment each time of no more than 4to 6. For the class project, both NX and SolidWorks CAE tools have been used for the simulation[10]. Several MATLAB files for 3D truss and frame analysis are also available at MATLABCentral File Exchange [11 - 12], however, these codes have to be understood thoroughly

experiences for pre-college students. Furthermore, theexpanding agenda to enrich Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)education is often proposed as a solution to educational inequities (Bullock, 2017). While we areencouraged by efforts to strengthen the PCEE infrastructure we propose more robustconsiderations are necessary to examine how these investments of resources will not deepenongoing inequities, particularly as STEM courses suffer from an exclusionary culture (Carter etal., 2019; Nasir & Vakil, 2017). In this paper, we will explore critical consciousness as a conceptual framework that canassist pre-college engineering educators in advancing equitable PCEE. Critical consciousnesscan help educators disavow

3.0 to 3.4 range (B to B+ interms of letter grades). This would be the expectation based off the cumulative distributionfunction shown previously. Small sample sizes or incredibly gifted students contribute to theoutliers observed, which are localized to specific terms and majors. For EngineeringManagement in 2010, only one student from this major took MC311. For Chemical Engineeringin 2013, a gifted cohort created this peak; two students had incoming GPAs above 4.0 and themajority had GPAs between 3.3 and 3.8. For Nuclear Engineering in 2019, there was only onestudent from this major and a gifted one at that. The interesting observations garnered from thisfigure is that despite obvious outliers, the general trend for incoming GPAs has
