broader cybersecurity concerns inautonomous robotics, we followed up with focused ROS tutorial assignments that would get thestudents familiar with the middleware before refining Figure 1’s high level architecture.Additionally, students were given an assignment where they learned about encryption through aguided tour of common techniques using Python libraries. The students applied these encryptiontechniques by making ROS messages that used symmetric encryption on their payloads. At theend of this first semester, students presented the key aspects from cybersecurity and autonomythat would be relevant to solve the challenge problem in the second semester. In the second semester, we set up an agile-lite development process and meeting schedule

In the past, and to our surprise, students suggested increasing the number of presentations in place of technical report(s) and this increase was implemented.5. ECE Award for Outstanding Senior Design ProjectSince 2004 when changes to the senior design format were made, it was observed that studentteams were undertaking more advanced projects even though these projects required more effort. These advanced projects result in very successful outcomes. To reward these projects and thedesign team members, in 2008 an ‘ECE Award for Outstanding Senior Design’ was introduced. , especially the pretest scores. This may be afunction of institutional and/or demographic differences. At the same time, the post-interventionscores were improved in our case compared to the downshift present in the reference.Acknowledging the limitations in sample size and high variability, several possible explanationscome to mind. First, the identical set of students assessed may have facilitated more consistencyin the pre/post comparison than the independent tests. Another possible factor may be the classsize: smaller, discussion-based course vs. an assumed larger class. Or perhaps timing was apossibility: 2nd semester sophomore course vs. 1st semester freshmen course. Lastly, liberal artsinstitutions, for whatever reason(s), are the only

performance UNIX clusters as the vectors forinteracting with ML. The downside would be the high setup cost of developing a preconfiguredimage for an ML instance. The Jetson comes with all of the libraries and docker images correctlypre-installed; the cluster does not. The Jetson comes with default ML scripts students can interactwith; the cluster does not. However, the instructional team plans on students continuing tointeract with ML in future years, independent of the platform, as they believe this is a tool allengineers need to understand. In addition, more quantitative data is set to be recorded nextsemester, including surveys, to give a broader insight into the success of the program.References [1] L. Huang and K. -S. The template was intended to be a workingdocument for teams to (a) gather resources about their institution and to complete reflectionactivities before the summit, and (b) continue building throughout the summit. Specifically, thetemplate walked participants through the proposed ABET DEI criteria, then asked teams to listcurrent ideas related to curriculum and faculty strategies at the program, department/college,and/or institutional level. The template asked about existing resources/structures, theenvironment for making DEI changes, anticipated challenges, and institutional
