He serves the Society of Manufacturing Engineers through the Manufacturing Education & Research Community and the SME Center for Education and he is a recipient of the SME Education Award. He has authored four textbooks. Applied Fluid Mechanics 6th ed, Applied Strength of Materials 5th ed, Statics and Strength of Materials, 1st ed, and Machine Elements in Mechanical Design 5rd ed, all published by Pearson/Prentice-Hall.
