The “revised” course was delivered during the2012 Fall Semester to sixty-five (65) students. Student feedback was extremely positive.IntroductionCurrent research within the engineering disciplines indicates that a first-year (freshman) hands-on course that emphasizes real-world design experiences can increase recruiting and retentionrates and provide the groundwork for future academic “learning” in subsequent coursework.3,8,14Within the engineering disciplines, there exists a
