Research Workforce Working Grouprequired IDPs for their postdoctoral researchers (Austin) [8] and the National ScienceFoundation included the IDP as one of the tools in their career development website [9]. As wecan see, both NSF and NIH, as well as many universities, have embraced the IDP as a keycomponent for enhancing STEM graduate and postdoctoral programs. A survey instrument measured the students’ attitudes toward professionalconnectedness (PC), a sense that engineers should apply their skills to help others, using 19 itemswith a 7-point Likert-type response scale. A key methodological inconsistency in the dataset washow students were allowed to report their race/ethnicity in the demographic question at the endof the survey: 1088 students selected a single race/ethnicity category, while 2305 students couldidentify multiple racial/ethnic categories. . Modern media and academic sources have repeatedlyreported the stress and impacts of an education crisis. Students of all ages have beenasked to isolate and learn without the social support of their classmates and teachers.The grief over the loss of community has been noted and described with reports ofemotional, mental, and physical distress [1]. all perspectives.Heuristic for an Accomplice’s Ethic of Care and AccountabilityIn order to establish coalitional accomplice relationships that appreciate and celebrate difference,the authors suggest three heuristic activities that can establish trust and build a sharedunderstanding. This heuristic reflects a Black Feminist epistemology, not only because it is builtin pursuit of an ethic of care but also because it invests in knowledge-making in action. ForBlack Feminist theorists, this means that the experiential knowing that occurs in situ establishesthe basis for relationships.
