beimplemented in high-school and introductory college level courses, few appear to focus on theconcept of process control at a high-school skill level or above, and many others are inhibitoryfor K-12 and first year engineering programs to utilize due to the cost of implementation. Tobetter introduce students to the nature of chemical engineering work within their final highschool years or during the first year of their collegiate career, I have developed an affordable PIDcontroller laboratory that introduces students to the process control nature of chemicalengineering. The PID controller laboratory utilizes an inexpensive microcontroller andsupporting components to introduce students to PID controllers and the use of microcontrollers.Students are

instructional tool.Using Capstone projects to develop laboratory tools is not new, but it was observed that capstoneprojects in thermal science areas are limited in number [3], [4]. This might contribute topreventing interested students from following a future career in this area [5]. Furthermore, it isthe author’s belief that the development of students’ projects applicable to thermodynamicscourses are also a perfect fit for incorporating an entrepreneurial mindset learning (EML)component in a technical thermodynamics course [6].- Team: The team consisted of four MET students, one CET student and one CSET student. The MET students oversaw developing the behind the curtains power cycle simulators using Excel, the CSET student oversaw the

EM’s integration into the engineering curriculum are that itreinforces technical concepts (especially in design-related topics), helps promote greaterinclusion within the profession, and develops a mindset oriented towards problem-solving,empathy, creativity, and valuing the expertise of others. 10 The KEEN Framework’s“mindset+skillset” approach presents EM as a competency geared towards graduates creatingvalue for their organizations and communities in successful and rewarding engineering careers. 9To succinctly put it, EM is CBE.KEEN’s approach also benefits the development of computing professionals. Researchinvestigating the EM of engineering and computer science students did not report any differencesbetween these two groups.11 The
