shining at the same time. ConclusionsIn this paper a method of estimating the direction of a single point optical source usingthree optical detectors is presented. The angular resolution of the estimation improveswith the number of bits of the ADC used in the measurement. A simple program can beincorporated in the DAQ system utilized in students’ projects. Larger numbers ofdetectors can improve the reliability of estimation. loading domain: the currentcone can be found by passing the current force point with the apex lying on N axis. Theold cone is always being pushed along the loading path for every incremental step. Thereader is referred to Fig. 3 (a,b) for illustration of this process. For the loading domain: Rc = T . The rule is different for the incremental step being done in the unloadingdomain. The current cone is found passing both the current point and the turning point(where loading changes to unloading). Still the cone with the apex at the current forcepoint is the old cone. The old cone is always being pushed along the loading path forevery incremental step. The projection of the vector dF = Fcurrent − Fturning on the current N -plane is a diameter of the
temperature control system found in most homes. A control system keepsthe air in a home at a certain temperature. It does this by sensing the ambienttemperature, comparing it to the desired temperature, and producing a control action thatwill keep the ambient temperature at or near the desired temperature. This paperdescribes a project that involves designing, building, and demonstrating a regulatorycontrol system. The system will maintain the temperature of a process at a desired setpoint. Another goal is to incorporate a PC-based data acquisition system (DAQ) alongwith LabVIEW, a graphics-based programming language by National Instruments.LabVIEW has been used in many control systems applications [1-5].To demonstrate the functionality of the system

Design the control unit of a traffic light that will be installed in an intersection. The traffic flow, and other specifications are given in a handout. The handout out is a bid for the construction of the controller. A diagram of the intersection is given in Figure 1. The timing of the various states is varies. This gives me the opportunity to ask why it would very. At least one of the states must include a left turn signal. Needed information for the controller

Hergoal had been the medical field; however, after she took E-COACH, she stated that sherealizes that she really does enjoy engineering related projects and work. She is nowconsidering a career in engineering. Her Career Map indicates her interests in technologyrelated projects such as that required in her engineering class. Figure 2. Career map and order of majors for student 2.The two students, though similar in abilities and intelligence, show the precision of E-COACH. Both students acknowledge an interest in math. However, while the firststudent indicated an interest in working with data in a conventional manner, the

organizations, activity scheduling, inventory control, project management and total quality systems. The issues facing EM are many and varied. The educational demands are to say the leastdaunting. But it is in maintaining a balance between these forces (hard vs. soft, applied vs.theoretical, industrial influence, market demands, etc.), that make good EM programs. To fail toembrace the multidisciplinary nature of this field, we believe would be a mistake and ultimatelyrelegate the field to something it was never meant to be. References 1. Beruvides, M.G. An equation of state serves two useful purposes. Its most obvious use is in theprediction of the PvT behavior of a substance over the desired range of values. Theequilibrium states of a simple compressible substance can be represented by a surfacePvT on a Cartesian coordinate system. The projection of a typical surface onto the P vplane is shown in

Introduction The course ME 354M, “Biomechanics of Human Movement,” is an undergraduatetechnical block elective in Mechanical Engineering (ME) that has been offered every year since1987. During those previous years, the course was taught in a traditional format with chalkboardlectures and overhead transparencies, and with a few paper handouts distributed as needed. Thereis no required textbook for the course and the primary lecture content has been prepared ad hocover the years by the first author
