is certainly not a new one.Various institutions have aimed to formalize how they develop their student’s non-technicalskills. These are skills that institutions deem important for their students’ future. For example, theUniversity of Central Oklahoma (UCO) relied on the theoretical base of transformative learningto develop their Student Transformative Learning Record (STLR) [1]. The transformativelearning theory is based on the work of Mezirow which argues that in order for authentictransformation to occur, learners need to reflect on their relationships with themselves, others, and the world they live in. Learners may have transformative experiences if they are willing toexplore other ways of thinking [2]–[4]. The STLR focuses on six tenets

cycling. The sample plate inside the soiling chamber wasdesigned to accommodate up to 100 1-in2 samples with integrated proportional temperaturecontrol and was designed to be adjustable from 0° to 45° tilt angle.KeywordsStudent Poster, Soiling, Dew cycling, Solar Photovoltaic, DustIntroductionSoiling is the accumulation of dust particles on solar panels and other photovoltaic (PV) surfaceswhich results in transmission losses by absorbing, scattering, and reflecting a fraction of theincoming sunlight. By introducing additional operating and maintenance costs, soiling has anegative impact on the economic revenue of PV installations. Power reductions of more than50% have been reported in the literature because of soiling [1]. Since soiling

effect of this is a decrease in the convection heattransfer coefficient and a decrease in critical heat flux. After transition boiling, film boiling existsin which a layer of vapor begins to cover the surface completely and in turn increases the heat flux.It is also important to note that beyond the point where the critical heat flux is reached, burnoutoccurs when the excess temperature exceeds the melting point of the solid.Predicting nucleate pool boiling requires knowledge of the rate and number of surface nucleationsites during boiling. Nucleate pool boiling analysis has been shown to reflect the relationshipbetween the surface heat flux and the excess temperature. Within the free convection boilingregime, it is typical that the action of

and suggestions for instructors considering multiple choice exam formats.BackgroundFormative and summative assessment of student learning in engineering education is critical forevaluation of individual student learning outcomes. While the industrial practice of engineering is largelyfocused on using analytical problems solving methods on open-ended problems [1], engineeringeducation must necessarily be focused on developing those analytical problem-solving skills using welldefined problems. For many technical problems, finding the correct solution is a multi-step process ofdefining constraints, developing supporting figures, and applying equations that reflect the underlyingphysical phenomena. Some researchers have found that well-structured

modules. This is one of the drawbacks of LabVIEW. While it is extremely useful, it is of industry standardand the prices reflect this [2]. Between the software costs and the data acquisition modules, it canbe expensive to get started with LabVIEW. Because of this, the uses for LabVIEW tend to lendthemselves toward research where grants cover the cost. However, LabVIEW does not have to beused exclusively with NI products [1]. LabVIEW has a great community that creates andpublishes VIs for many different uses. Alongside this, many companies that have DAQ hardwarealso have LabVIEW SDKs or provide VIs. With all of this, the Academic License for LabVIEWcomes with many add-ons [3] and code integration of Python, C/C++, .NET, and MATLAB as isstandard with

touches on multipletopics, the area of interest will be computer vision. Each of the engineering aspects reflects theindividual steps necessary to replicate the assembly and programming of the arm. For eachengineering aspect/step, the key material learned by the student or user will be discussed, as wellas the additional material available to raise the complexity of the system to the next level. By theend of the learning process, the students will be able to implement computer vision into thesystem enabling the robot arm to sort objects based on color. In this project, the robot will sortred and blue objects within a given workspace.III. Hardware The main component of the kit is the pick-and-place robot, here an existing three-degrees-of

mentoring circle meeting over coffee.Table 1 shows a summary of the mentor and student attendance at the fall events. Most of thementoring groups decided to have four events during the fall semester. Mentor attendance wasstrong for these events, but virtual attendance was the norm after the kick-off event. Studentattendance was good but decreased a bit with each subsequent event. A majority of the studentsalso attended virtually, most likely because many of the mentors chose to attend virtually due totravel requirements. One of the positive results of COVID was the emergence and successfulapplication of technology for remote interaction. This was reflected in the interaction of mentorsand students. The overall student attendance in the program

periodic materials has sinceexpanded to applications like composite materials, periodic foundations for buildings andmultispan bridges. Most of the research done on phononic materials has been concentrated onproof of concept, computer simulations and some smaller scale applications [4]. These materialsare a periodic arrangement of the inclusion material within a homogeneous surrounding matrixmaterial. The two constituent materials should have contrast in their density and Young’s modulusin order to exhibit the unique characteristic of a band gap [5]. The contrast in properties of thematerials causes waves to be completely reflected at certain frequencies. The Lame’s coefficients(µ and λ) can be expressed as Young’s Modulus (E) as shown in
