]. Engineering education has to be able to reflect thedemands of the workforce to prepare entry-level engineers to succeed in a rapidly-changingglobal economy. Understanding the value professionals place on communication and otherprofessional skills is necessary when developing the next generation of microelectronicsengineers.3 Theoretical FrameworkThe theoretical framework used for the larger microelectronics workforce needs assessmentstudy included two models that illustrate a variety of competencies that are necessary fordeveloping students with professional skills that make them a career-ready engineer: ABETProcess and Awareness Skills and Engineering Habits of Mind (EHoM) [8]. asked the industry respondents what they thought were theprimary benefits of their engagement for the community partner. They noted that their oversightensures the project quality, and that the participation of industry members should provide thecommunity partners with a degree of peace of mind with respect to implementing the studentsdesigns. “The EPICS projects get some additional oversight from various engineers that are in industry. This helps ensure products are well thought through and safe for use by the community partners' intended users.” “The community partners would hopefully receive more polished, durable, and "professional" looking/functioning products that will last longer. Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering Department (MEIE)and Rowan University’s Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. We also present thepartnership projects developed as a part of these workshops at both universities. We believe thatthese collaborations will lead to industry insights in our programs that will map toEntrepreneurially Minded Learning (EML), a pedagogical framework developed by KernEntrepreneurial Engineering Network (KEEN) to promote graduates to become value creatorsfor their organizations. This focuses on developing skills in undergraduate engineering studentssuch that they are poised to create extraordinary value in their future organizations. EML seeksto expand the notion that design is focused on technical
