semester it became evident how this single presentation needs to be expandedinto multiple lessons. For example, it was apparent that we need to cover how to introduce adesign to an outside audience. This is a topic that capstone students might scoff at, but it isessential for engineering novices. We will use student examples to highlight the need to startwith the “big picture” and then describe smaller components. We will emphasize planning designdescriptions rather than simply starting with the first thing that comes to mind, as is often thecase.The last introductory presentation identifies what engineering audiences expect to encounter in adesign briefing.
