and skills they gained throughhands-on projects, or experiences as a part of their course work, or as a co-curricular support activity. The concept of Applied Learning is even more crucial in the senior level Mechanical EngineeringTechnology program courses. At the senior level, students have completed majority of their degreerequirements and able to combine multiple different skills and knowledge they gained when they aresolving a problem. To ensure students gain the proper applied learning experience and to fulfill theApplied Learning Graduation requirement, senior project course is selected as the designated appliedlearning course. Senior project course is 3 credit capstone project course, where students completecapstone projects from

case studiesand the capstone projects that students work on are used to help them understand and applyethical principles [1].Increasing students' awareness of global challenges, such as ethics, environmental justice, andsustainability, can be achieved by introducing these topics across multiple courses throughdiscipline-specific content. This approach serves as an additional methodology to engagestudents in addressing these critical issues. Fostering this awareness and enabling students tomake ethical decision to address global challenges falls clearly within the Criterion 3 on studentoutcomes in ABET accreditation.ABET Student Outcome 4 [2] states: "an ability to recognize ethical and professionalresponsibilities in engineering situations and

, finiteelement analysis (FEA), computer-aided design (CAD), or just hand drawing with trial-and-errormethods.The differences between high school and college students were studied in many ways except howthey address and attempt to solve authentic problems. The present paper investigated these twogroups of students as they were facing authentic problems. Since the two groups are vastly differentin their knowledge level of mathematics, physics, and mental maturity, the present paper will onlycover some comparable aspects, including the logic, steps, procedures, screening, groupcontribution, confidence, and seeking help from others. The author of the present paper served as the instructor of senior capstone projects in mechanicalengineering at a public

project allowed students to work on topics of personalinterest, with many choosing their senior design capstone projects, while others focused onindependent research. Students were encouraged to propose real-world physical problems ofinterest, and then develop both two-dimensional models and simplified three-dimensionalrepresentations, focusing on either structural or thermal aspects.Questions 14 to 21 explore the impact of teamwork on learning. Approximately 73% of studentsdisagreed or strongly disagreed with the idea of removing the development of teamwork skillsthrough team projects from the course. Additionally, only about 24.3% of students agreed that theyshould be allowed to work individually on all projects, rather than just one. These
