three group, it was firstnecessary to determine if these distributions were normally distributed since parametricstatistical tests for comparison of means between distributions (i.e., student t-test) assume normaldistributions. The Q-Q graphs for each of these groups are shown in Figure 5. Normallydistributed data will occur along a straight line in these diagrams. Although the Control/Partnersgroup appears to be normally distributed, the Singles and EEBoard groups deviate fromnormality. The Shapiro-Wilk test for normallity confirmed that the Control/Partners distributionwas not statistically different from normal; however, both the Singles and EEBoard distributionswere indeed non-gaussian distributed (p<0.05 & 0.001 respectively). While lectures were interactive and students could jump to parts that they needed torepeat, no real-time interaction with the instructor was possible. However, for a large size class (with120 or more students) this is rarely possible in the traditional setting as well.
