because studentswent through the process of critically evaluating writing with immediate feedback from peers(when students disagreed about feedback in class this gave the instructor the opportunity toweigh in and explain the good and not-so-good aspects of student’s opinions). The “Pop Quizzes” will be used again. The original approach proved quite effective, but thestudent suggestion of making corrections for full credit was excellent and will be incorporatedwhen the approach is used again. The efficacy of the exercise was improved by discussion ofissues with the Faculty Coaches Group in the Ralph E. Martin Department of ChemicalEngineering.11Bibliography 1. offered in fall2012. This course provides students opportunities in applying practical signal processingtechniques using matrix computations, least square and mean square principles in eventdetections, mixed sources separation, and parameter estimations. Projects are designed in bothcourses using real-world data. Students not only obtain hands-on experience in applying signalprocessing techniques via simulations in Matlab, but they also improve their skills of writing andcritical thinking when writing the project reports.2. Projects Designed for the CoursesA course project in EE782 is worth 15% of the final grade. Students are required to submitproject reports and make a brief presentation of their observations obtained in the project
