interactive classroom alternative outweighed the technical challenges ofthe delivery method.A number of other techniques for developing better student-faculty interaction have been triedwith mixed success including the incorporation of life cycle assessment into early engineeringclasses (Weber et al. 2014); the use of incidental writing, or informal writing that students dothroughout the course (Hawkins et al. 1996); using a plant trip as a theme for an energy balancecourse (Younf and Stuart 2000); integrating thermal-fluid experiments into the classroom(Olinger and Hermanson 2002) and using problem based learning in an electrical engineeringcourse (Yadav et al. 2011). Finelli et al. (2001) present a list of activities that might improve theclassroom

watching the video, lectures or reading the text, students have the chance tocontrol the pace of multimedia streaming to match their own learning preferences. Students canalso watch or listen to recordings of class lectures on their computers, tablets, smart phones, orpersonal media players outside of class, leaving class time to engage in learning activities thatmight otherwise be assigned as homework [4]. Teaching is a complicated practice that requires expertise in many kinds of specializedknowledge. As an ill-structured discipline, teaching requires application of complex knowledgestructures across different cases and contexts that requires constant evolution. Effective teachingdepends on access to rich, well-organized and integrated

Collaborative Audits as a Tool for Increasing Safety Awareness Tammy M. Lutz-Rechtin and Edgar C. Clausen Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering University of ArkansasAbstractEducators that are closest to the students, such as lab instructors and research advisers, primarilyinfluence academic safety culture. Since individual departments control both curriculum andenforcement of initiatives directly to the staff and faculty, the academic department can also playa pivotal role in a safety culture. Departmental led initiatives such as the collaborative audit canlead to increased cooperation among students, student clubs, faculty

Facultyeffective team buildings IV. CONCLUSIONDesign courses in engineering curriculum should be given special attention to prepare studentsfor the real engineering life after graduation. Senior Project Design (Capstone) has the rule inpreparing the students for their future career. To have succeeded in SPD, rewards should begiven to the in-charge faculty. An active relation with industry should be also be established.Summer training program and other design courses should be involved while Capstone isconsidered. ABET criteria is a key element for the Capstone that need to be implemented in allengineering courses. However, the actual implementation of the course should be customizedaccording to the group of students
