This study investigates the efficiency and fairness of using AI, specifically ChatGPT, tograde theoretical understanding and research paper assignments in undergraduate and graduatecourses. The research was conducted in two phases. In the first phase, we assessed ChatGPT'sperformance in grading assignments, focusing on time efficiency, consistency, and gradingpatterns. We compared AI-assisted grading with traditional human grading methods in thesecond phase. We then analyzed variations in scores, potential biases, and feedback'sperceived usefulness. We conducted surveys to gather perceptions from both students andeducators regarding AI-based grading.The results indicated that AI-assisted grading
