term partnerships that synergize community vision with Pitt’s core competencies of research and education, Sanchez has built up Pitt Hydroponics in Homewood, founded Constellation Energy Inventor labs for K-12 students, and re-created the Mascaro Center’s Teach the Teacher sustainability program for science educators in the region. As a teacher he designed and created the Sustainability capstone course which has annually partnered with community stakeholders to address sustainability challenges at all scales. Future efforts will focus onthe refinement of holistic energy materials and development of an elective course that exploresthe societal impacts of nuclear technology.Adaptability for Different Institutions and DisciplinesRecognizing the diversity in resources, demographics, and disciplines at various institutions, theholistic energy education framework is designed to be adaptable. Resource-rich institutionsmight include laboratory experiences, interdisciplinary projects, and industry partnerships.Conversely, institutions with limited resources could emphasize case studies and guest lectures toeffectively convey holistic energy concepts.
