, weintegrate real data with a context and a purpose in order to give learners experience with genuinedata and illustrate the usefulness of data science skills in the real world 16 .3.1 Survey Data CollectionTo evaluate the impact of real-world data integration, we administered a survey to the studentsthat enrolled in Computer Sciences classes and/or workshops developed at Florida InternationalUniversity. The survey was designed to measure student engagement, confidence, and motivationin data-rich learning environments. We mapped our course learning outcomes to specific surveyitems, asking students to self-assess their skills and attitudes at the beginning and end of thecourse (adapted from 17 ’s approach).
