future.In response to these needs, the California Regional Consortium for Engineering Advances inTechnological Education (CREATE) proposed the development of international learningexchanges to provide a cohort of renewable energy faculty with relevant international exposurein their discipline. As a result, the National Science Foundation’s Advanced TechnologicalEducation program funded two CREATE learning exchanges. Participants were charged withlearning how their international peers had met similar challenges in terms of teaching renewableenergy technicians, with expanding their knowledge of the global renewable energy sector, andwith sharing the results of their study. , thermal man- agement, and fuel cells: materials synthesis, fabrication, test and characterization of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). His research is currently focused on the experimental and analytical investigation, and the development of innovative SOFCs combined heating and power (CHP) system, ceramic membrane for CO2 recovery from combustion processes, all solid state Li-Ion batteries, and thermal transpiration based propulsion, pumping, and power generation. approach.Literature Review: The Flipped EE ClassroomThe flipped classroom, which was implemented in this course in the fall 2014 semester, is anactive-learning approach that enables higher-engagement activities during class, such as problemsolving, with the instructor present as a guide; this is done by having students review lecturecontent beforehand using media such as online videos3, 4.Upon a review of the literature, we found other electrical engineering courses that have beenflipped, with mostly positive results. In a signal processing course, the instructor noted that ittook a few weeks for the students to adapt to the new environment, engage with their peers, orask for assistance5.
