student performance are becoming moredemanding. There is a need for more educational innovations that have a significant impact onstudent learning and performance7.An industrial advisory council approached an engineering technology department at a Universityin Louisiana with a need to develop a new program tailored to working professionals. Thisprogram was named a Post- Baccalaureate Certificate in Quality Control, which focuses oneffective decision-making in technical, manufacturing, and service providing industries.According to long term projections for industrial production managers, the need for qualitycontrollers in industrial organization is around 2170/year until 2022. Ananalysis by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Bureau of Labor MarketInformation, June 2015, indicates significant growth in jobs and demand for skilled workers inSouthwestern (SW) Ohio in the additive and advanced manufacturing and related occupations foraerospace and bio health industries. Computer and mathematics occupations are predicted to bethe third largest growth area (6% increase) in SW Ohio by the year 2022. Sixty percent of thefastest growing occupations in SW Ohio are in the bio health industries. In North AmericanIndustry Classification System (NAICS) occupational categories, the overall growth in jobs inSW Ohio in these fields is predicted to be nearly 21%. Acrylic Acid via an Allyl Alcohol IntermediateIntroduction Glycerol is a main byproduct of biodiesel production. As the biodiesel industry has grown, sohas the supply of glycerol, which is currently oversupplied in the market [1]. One valuable chemicalproduct that can be produced from glycerol is acrylic acid. Acrylic acid is used in the manufacturing ofplastics, coatings, paints, textiles, and more. The global market for acrylic acid is projected to reach$22.55 billion by 2022 [2, 3]. Previous methods of producing acrylic acid have been abandoned forenvironmental and economic reasons. Many mechanisms for the conversion of glycerol to acrylic acidhave been studied but not commercialized due to rapid deactivation of the catalyst [1, 4

deployed has already been given. Automobilemanufacturers have already agreed to implement AEB system technology (in 99% of passengervehicles) by the 2022 model year22-23. Google has been testing a fleet of self-driving cars foryears and Ford Motor Company has announced that they are targeting fully autonomous cars forride sharing applications by 202124 as have others like General Motors and Tesla. Toyota, Honda,Mercedes-Benz, and most other major manufacturers have also committed to joining the race toproduce autonomous vehicles but they are less definitive in their expectations of when theirvehicles will actually be ready for market. The technology employed to make autonomous cars areality is extremely complex, cutting edge, and not thoroughly
developing Solar Energy Germany was the leader producing solar panels until other countries like China, India, and the United States gain interest on developing these technologies. Moreover, in 2015, China became the largest producerof solar energy, and is currently making the biggest plant in the Gobi dessert. The amount of solar energy that China plans to produce in several yeas surpasses three times by what the United States has in mind. Another country with ambition when it comes to producing solar enrgy is India. By 2022, India plans to produce 12.5% of their general energy needs by using solar energy. This will benefit considerably theeconomy of the country. In addition, the state of
programs run simultaneously. In 2018, the ACEEES programwill no longer accept new students but the ACEEES curriculum will continue until the laststudents admitted graduate in 2022. It appears that for MS/ME graduates the Energy course is thepreferred program, whereas for doctoral students, ACEEES appeals to students because of thestipend they receive as well as numerous experience based programs it offers such as internshipsand annual forum. It remains to be seen if stopping the ACEEES stipend will cause problems forthe remaining students with limited financial resources to complete their doctoral degree. From the faculty point of view creating both graduate programs resulted from faculty withdifferent disciplines and in different departments
, administrators, club organizers, and mentors to use theirresources effectively.Literature ReviewThe increasing need for professionals in STEM fields has been expressed at the national, and statelevels. On the national level, the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology(2010) documented the “troubling signs” for the nation’s future STEM workforce. The U.S.Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that, during the period 2012–2022, employment in science andengineering occupations will grow by 14.8%, compared to 10.8% for all occupations (NSF, 2016).The Council has predicted that over the next decade, 1 million additional STEM graduates will beneeded. Warning signs that show increasing demand for STEM professionals will not be metinclude
system to collect AssignmentReview data every fall and spring, but only on about 1/6 of our courses each semester. Wemodified the formal requirements for the Assignment Review to reflect this change. Theseprocedures are in effect for our 2016-2022 ABET cycle. With 1/3 of courses being reviewed each year (1/6 in fall, 1/6 in spring), the matchbetween assignments and targeted SOs are reviewed twice in the ABET accreditation cycle. Forthe Assignment Review assessment, the instructor is required to submit a copy of an assignment(+ solution) that targets each SO associated with his/her course. It is recommended that, ifpossible, one assignment be designed to target multiple student outcomes. This serves todiminish the volume of data collected
