toward the end of an NSF-sponsored grant, in a university climate ofongoing and increasing budget cuts from the state. In order to achieve success, the NFLC programminghad to come with a small price tag and show measurable, significant outcomes. This placed the focus ofthe NFLC on assisting faculty to access campus resources more effectively, rather than generating newsources of faculty funds.The cost of running the NFLC is limited to one-credit course overloads for each of the two co-coordinators, and refreshments for some meetings.
