of teaching assistants in the classroom is oneapproach that instructors use to help with implementation of active learning activities and anoption to provide peer-to-peer guidance. While teaching assistants can come in both flavors ofgraduate and undergraduate, multiple studies show the positive effects of using undergraduateteaching assistants (UGTA) on the overall student experience.In a 2015 study by Arizona State University Schools of Engineering [2], undergraduate studentretention practices were analyzed to determine the factors of retention of first-year engineeringprograms.
