disciplinespecific engineering laboratories. Data were collected in three streams. First, through identical pre-test and posttest surveysmeasuring attitudes and interest in STEM fields. This survey, which took approximately tenminutes to complete, was a slightly modified version of the Friday Institute’s S-STEM survey[16] which has been shown to be a valid instrument for understanding student attitudes fordifferent STEM disciplines. Second, focus group interviews related to attitudes and interests inengineering were conducted.
