Summer Scholars was established to (1) promote the holistic development of enteringengineering students, (2) develop a sense of community before their first semester of university,(3) introduce students to the academic rigor of a highly ranked four-year institution, (4) fosterunderstanding of successful campus involvement, and (5) provide students with co-curricularexperiences to develop their identity as an engineer. The primary objective of this study was tounderstand the effect of Summer Scholars on student long-term GPA patterns, retention, pathwaychanges, and sense of belonging.BackgroundUnderrepresented Students in
