quantitative research design for our investigation [24], employinga cross-sectional survey of first-year engineering and physical sciences students at MemorialUniversity, a mid-sized multi-campus Canadian comprehensive university in the province ofNewfoundland and Labrador; two of the campuses are located in the cities of St. John’s andCorner Brook. Memorial University is also the province’s sole university and therefore the onlyoption for studying engineering and physical sciences at the post-secondary level within theprovince. The questionnaire for this study (PSEF-Engineering versus Physical Sciences) was self-developed for our research questions and target population, but was based on past surveys onrelated research questions.
