[1]. Declining costs are expected to continue [2], [3] and further promote thistransition. Solar energy represents a contribution towards such a transition and is a major growtharea for energy generation in the United States. The Inflation Reduction Act, passed in summerof 2022, has allocated hundreds of billions towards clean energy incentives [4] that will stimulategrowth of renewable energy in general, including solar photovoltaics (PV). The Department ofEnergy estimates that the US will need 1,600-3,000 GW of total installed solar capacity by 2050to meet climate goals [5]. Reaching this amount would necessitate quadrupling the currentannual solar deployment rate. Growth in solar jobs to meet these needs is already happening [6]and is

achieve consensus. This rigorous approach allowed us to assess communication trends over time andprovided a reliable evaluation of the students' communication skills development towards academicsuccess in nuclear workforce development. Results and DiscussionFor our Homefront Factor studies, we have ten significant findings [14]. First, one thousand and five(1005) Canvas messages from 2019 to 2023 were scored using the multi-element scoring tool (Table 3).This dataset covers the period before, during and after COVID-19. Figures 1 to 6 show the percentages ofmessages scored for different elements in the years 2019 (296), 2020 (236), 2021 (34), 2022 (412) and2023 (27) [8,9]. Secondly, over 30% of students began their messages with polite greetings

. Intecells, Inc. needed technical talent to support Li-ioncell processing, assembly and testing, and also needed engineering level skilled workers familiarwith their electrode processes to join their operations. During this collaboration Intecells, Inc.provided equipment and production hardware to both assemble, and to conduct electrical chargeand discharge cycle performance testing of Li-ion coin-cells (CR2032). Collaboration with LTUalso included assessing electrode powders and deposited electrodes on substrate using the LTUscanning electron microscope, coupled with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis tocharacterize electrode chemistries, blends and particle sizes. By early 2022 a cell assembly lab on the LTU campus was prepared

the introduction of a new course, MENG 6389 EnergyConversion, in the Summer 2022 semester. This course is an elective requirement for bothundergraduate and graduate programs in mechanical engineering. The objective of introducing this course was two-fold. Firstly, to increase enrollment in thegraduate program by offering a course that appealed to both undergraduate and graduate students.Secondly, to use different teaching techniques to increase participation, create awareness relatedto the importance of energy conversion, improve collaboration among students, developintellectual curiosity of energy applications, and create a chance to listen to industry speakers.Notably, both senior-level undergraduate students and graduate students took the

highly energy dense. The use of oil and gas since the industrial revolutionhas led to unprecedented economic growth, dramatically increased average life expectancy, andpopulation growth [21]. The International Energy Agency reports that in 2022, about 80% of theworld’s energy was supplied by fossil fuels [22]. It is therefore in our best interest to improve thetechnologies used to find and extract oil and gas, while we transition to new energy sources. There is a growing number of applications for machine learning in the oil and gas industryincluding exploration, reservoir, drilling, and production [23] [24], and through this work welook to contribute to that movement. The results of our work up to this point are promising. Wetrained and tested

.2-Project #2 Solar-Powered Cooler Project(Supervisor- Dr. Zilouchian)In this project, the design and implementation of a solar-powered cooler were carried out by twostudents in the spring 2022 semester. Students were interested in the project due to its potentialmarket trend in the State of Florida and beyond. Consumers may utilize the solar-poweredcooler to replace the regularly needed ice or to connect to the grid network in case of a hurricaneblackout for an extended period. Therefore, sustainability has become the prominent trend forsuch a small-scale system [18]-[21].Project Design and ConstructionThe students initially proposed to design and construct the cooler using plastic bins for exteriorwalls. However, since the system was a

extremely important to becovered in mechanical engineering courses, as these new technologies will require a morefundamental, broader-based education, even at the undergraduate level.1. Introduction:The world needs to reduce carbon emissions to combat climate change. Decarbonization of theeconomy, shifting to electricity produced with low-carbon energy sources and building upadequate capacity of renewable energy will take time. The events of 2022 caused ongoing energysecurity and crises in Europe. Additionally, at the COP28 UAE United Nation Climate ChangeConference, in which two hundred countries participated, there was a failure to mandate “phase-out” of fossil fuel; instead, they merely promised to transition away from fossil fuel. Engineer-designers, implicitly or explicitly, assume a ‘reference man’.Most of us are not reference man, and if ever, will only be reference man for a brief period in ourlives. In this way, we engineers effectively design technologies that serve but a few well andpoorly serve others, if at all.The problem becomes even thornier for complex sociotechnical systems –including most energytechnologies, especially nuclear

the studentcompetition teams in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Although a few students were interested in thisopportunity, most had schedule conflicts in 2024. Another uncertainty is that the finalists areselected at the beginning of the spring semester. Capstone students who may be willing toparticipate in the competition may not be chosen as finalists, and these students need to beassigned to different projects to fulfill the capstone requirements. Finally, the competition cannotbe offered to all students in the capstone course. If the demand is too high, some students may beunable to join the competition team. Utilizing the student competition in lieu of the capstone requirements has its pros andcons. The case study site and preliminary data
