, connections, and creating value (3C’s) [1]. In the 2022-23 academic year, a team of laboratory and design course instructors at a large public universityin the Midwestern United States began to explore this overlap and surveyed students enrolled inthe laboratory courses about various aspects of the framework. This work-in-progress paperillustrates the overlap between the framework and undergraduate laboratory courses and presentsthe initial student survey results. The initial analysis shows similar results to previous surveys atother institutions implementing the framework.Entrepreneurial Mindset and Laboratory CoursesLaboratories are key learning spaces in undergraduate STEM programs. In the summer of 2021, thelink to the web-based engineering lab writing draft modules was emailed to the instructors of theparticipating lab courses in Table 1. The instructors agreed to improve their lab writinginstructions using the module content. They did not participate in any formal professionaldevelopment training about the module content. The instructional materials developed in theacademic years of 2021-2022 are defined as the experiment. We collected the

The laboratory curriculum included twodissection labs, three Design-Build-Test (DBT) labs and a semester-long BeetleBot project, toprovide practical exposure to mechanical engineering concepts. We sought to understand howengineering students drew connections between the lab content and engineering design. Thecourse was assessed in Fall 2022 at the end of the semester through a voluntary, anonymousGoogle form survey that included questions about student impressions of the lab course. Thesurvey recorded which labs were perceived by students as being most integrated with engineeringdesign and which key aspects of engineering design (derived from the

The selected articles were read and coded based on the KIPPAS (Knowledge andUnderstanding, Inquiry Skills, Practical Skills, Perception, Analytical Skills, Social andScientific Communication) framework. The findings from this review suggest there is a need formore research into students' practical, inquiry, and analytical learning outcomes. This study alsoidentifies current practices and identifies gaps in the existing literature. The implication of thefindings for further research and practice were also discussed.Introduction Laboratory education is an important feature of the science curriculum at all levels ofeducation [1]. professional skills that employers desired, based on a recent survey ofcompanies who hire our graduates. The results of this survey suggested that employers areless concerned about students having specific technical skills and more concerned about theirprofession skills—written and oral communication, teamwork, critical thinking, etc. (B.Weihrauch, personal communication, March 11, 2022). Finally, during a faculty meeting, weasked the faculty of the IDE for their opinions of what the learning objectives of the courseshould be for both the measurement and statistics domains. We focused this discussion onenduring outcomes, using “what should the students know or be able to do five years fromcompleting this course” as our guiding prompt. We then compared

The da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3D printer takes around 40 hours to fullyprint the optimized elbow design.Student InvolvementA group of six students worked together on the optimized elbow project during the Springsemester of the 2022 academic year. This project began with the testing of a variety of elbowdesigns using the setup shown in Figure 3. The goal of this preliminary testing was to comparethe effects of a variety of factors on the pressure drop 𝑝 and the pressure coefficient K valuesfor the different designs. The factors included the material used to 3D print elbows, the effects ofcoating the elbow, and different elbow designs. The experimental data obtained were tabulatedand plotted for proper comparison. A couple of the

The survey was distributed via snowball sampling, withinitial distribution at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers’ annual meeting in 2022 andvia social media. Faculty response data was analyzed to identify trends across the three differentresponse types. Across the survey responses, there was agreement on the high level ofimportance of four learning outcomes: design experiment, compare to theory, analyze data, andcommunication. While the learning outcome of ethics was rated as significantly important for alaboratory course, many faculty did not include this in their ranking of the top five learningoutcomes or their open
