in higher engineeringeducation curricula. To ensure that we covered a broad range of research, we searched the Webof Science (WoS) and SCOPUS databases using keywords. We limited our search to peer-reviewed conference articles and journal articles and found a total of 848 articles publishedbetween 2000 and 2022, 375 from Web of Science and 473 from Scopus. Firstly, we removedrepetitive papers from two databases by comparing the titles. This reduced the number of studiesto 691. We then screened the papers based on their titles, abstracts, keywords, and conclusions, removing irrelevant studies, and reducing the number of relevant studies to 406. Finally, wethoroughly read the remaining articles and assessed their relevance to our study. This

efforts that illuminate the ways sexual and gender identity shape trajectories into, through, and out of STEM.Over the past year of the project, we have accomplished developing and administering a surveyto college students nationally. We administered the survey at two universities in Spring 2022followed by a third in Fall 2022, and administration will conclude at two more in Spring2023.The survey itself uses an egocentric social network analysis approach to gather data on thecharacteristics of a subset of students’ social networks, measures of several affective outcomesknown to lead to academic persistence, and data on students’ college experiences and personaldemographics. For this poster, we present our work testing how well the outcome

Collectively, these studies indicate that small-group peer interactions can have asignificant impact on student learning. This paper extends the existing research by quantifyingand comparing just how much peer interaction occurs in collaborative learning relative to moretraditional methods of instruction. Findings from this work will enable the project team tocorrelate students’ level of peer interaction to other important variables in this study, includingtheir engineering self-efficacy, identity formation, and degree persistence.Experimental DesignObservation data were collected in Fall 2022.
