. However, the IDI surveys almost always show a higher perceived culturalcompetency than the actual measured developmental level which would need to be taken intoconsideration. Evaluating training or experiences incorporated into classes at multiple levelswould provide a better picture of whether my conclusions are correct. I have incorporated aService Learning project for people in another culture for a Senior Capstone course. Thesestudents did not travel to that location but needed to learn about the culture in order to create adesign that was effective. Incertain departments, such as the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, students canalso elect to take EPICS for capstone design if they are working on a project related to thatengineering discipline (e.g., electrical engineering students designing a robotic arm). Each club will use service-learning to exam and come up with a design for an environmental issue. The designs will be built using the engineering design model and presented at a capstone event. She served on the Connect To Tech Advisory Board as a member on this network of school personnel, industry leaders, and community members, whose goal is to further the education of students on Long Island in STEM areas.
