. ©American Society for Engineering Education, 2023 Preliminary Experience and Impact of Experiment-focused Teaching Approach in a Computer Architecture Course in Computer ScienceAbstract—One of the key knowledge areas in Computer Science (CS) is Digital Logic andComputer Architecture where the learning outcome is an understanding of Boolean algebra, logicgates, registers, or arithmetic logic units, etc. and explaining how software and hardware arerelated to a computing system. Experimental Centric based Instructional Pedagogy (ECP) withportable laboratory instrumentation might provide real hands-on experience to obtain a practicalunderstanding of those concepts at a lower cost compared to virtual hands-on laboratories thatlack direct

well aware of these novel technologies, we need to update our curriculum andcourse design. In this paper, I present some laboratories (labs) that the students conducted as apart of a course project in the ubiquitous computing class. This course is an elective forundergraduate Computer and Information Sciences or Information technology students. Thestudents who take this course are either juniors or seniors. Covid-19 has taught us how remoteteaching is useful to ensure proper education during the time of the pandemic. This project aimsto design different lab modules that the students can conduct without purchasing hardware. Idesigned this course at the time of covid pandemic to ensure student learning and success in aneconomical way. I devised

includes both instruction set and assembly language. The first half of the semester focuseson the exploration of combinational and sequential logic circuits, which correspond to layers fourand five in Fig. 1. Thereafter, students can design an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU) circuitcapable of executing fundamental arithmetic and logic operations. This design exercise can aidstudents in grasping how binary opcodes can effectively govern digital circuits. Furthermore, students also design a functional CPU circuit using the essential components provided by thecircuit simulator. This practical laboratory experience contributes to athorough comprehension of the operations associated with basic App. Softwareassembly code

concerns and family responsibilitiesas key factors affecting students’ mental well-being, with many students juggling multiple responsibilities alongsidetheir academic pursuits ([34]).Development of rPPG Technology In the development of rPPG technologies, significant challenges arise in real-time data acquisition and processing, particularly when integrating with systems like LLMs. One of the key challenges has been adapting rPPG algorithmsto work effectively across diverse demographics and in various environmental conditions, as traditional connectedPPG algorithms often focus on homogenous subject groups in stationary laboratory settings. Recent advancementsin rPPG have enhanced its accuracy and adaptability, particularly in varied environmental

positioned to apply their self-discovered knowledge on Byte Orderingto bigger problem sets as practice exercises. And this extends to their lab experiences. Next, students will work on laboratories created around software in CSE gatekeeping courses, such as the RISC-V assembler and runtime emulator RARS [77]. Having been introduced earlier to Page - 6Inquiry, they are expected to apply the scientific method to advance their own understanding, reflectingand documenting their questions and experiences at every stage of the lab. Regarding the framework for ITL shown as an example in Figure 3, questions can surface overthe exact time

study found that being able to test the use of the robotsin actual homes versus in a laboratory setting gave useful feedback, both in areas that needimprovement and in what ways people really used the robots to assist with their ADL. For those people with lower-limb mobility issues that use power wheelchairs, one issuefacing that needs to be addressed is charging the wheelchairs’ batteries. This activity sometimesrequires manual dexterity that the disabled person does not have. Work has been done to create awireless power transfer pad that a wheelchair could simply be parked on to charge it, rather thanrequiring the wheelchair to be plugged in. This technology would increase the self-reliance ofpowered wheelchair users and make it easier
