-earning activities, family care [5], teamwork, mentorship andsecurity, herein referred to as “Homefront factors”. We have been examining the impact of these factorson our student-instructor interactions since 2019 and have shared some insights of our qualitativeanalysis in various forums. Fifth, little is known about how Homefront factors influence interactionsbetween students and their instructors. A Likert grading method of six (6) components was developedand used to evaluate the qualitative data gathered from student Canvas messages. The six maincomponents of the assessment were: preparation, respect, human behavior, social structure, greetingsand salutations, and request specification. He successfully completed Fort Bend County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Forum for the class of 2016-17. Dr. Pecen is a recipient of 2010 Diversity Matters Award at UNI for his efforts on promoting diversity and international education. He is also a recipient of 2022 Excellence in Service for the Department of Eng technology at SHSU, 2011 UNI C.A.R.E Sustainability Award for the recognition of applied research and development of renewable energy applications in Iowa.
