Construction Lab Project Using Procore®Abstract:Construction education benefits from establishing a strong relationship with real-world industry practices. One important practice is the knowledge of software used in the industry to simplify the complexconstruction workflow and tasks throughout project execution. Procore® is considered a leadingconstruction software providing a connection between technology and industry trades. The cloud-basedsoftware provides a central repository for the contract documents, e.g. bidding documents, prime contracts, change orders, drawings, and specifications, and enables sharing the project information with all projectparticipants. While it is still needed to provide evidence-based studies measuring the effectiveness

. The research process comprises three key phases: (1)Before pilot study: Introducing the project and guidelines and conducting a pre-summativeassessment of students' prior construction skills. (2) Pilot study: Students embark on theconstruction phase, facing various challenges such as constructing their houses within specifiedparameters, including size, limited pieces, design requirements, and adhering to LEGO's setcolor guidelines for the design. (3) After pilot study: This final phase uses a post-summativeassessment that evaluates the improvement in students' construction skills. The resultsdemonstrate that well-designed LEGO tasks can enhance students' skills by improvingcommunication, leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills

construction industry. However, in today’sdynamic landscape, the incorporation of new technologies, sustainability considerations, andevolving managerial demands has increased the complexity of construction projects, bothtechnically and managerially. Consequently, the current construction industry places a premiumon the critical thinking and problem-solving abilities of recent graduates. Regrettably, asobserved in various professional fields, CEM programs have faced challenges in producinggraduates equipped with the necessary problem-solving and critical thinking skills. To addressthis issue, the authors propose the development of a novel senior capstone course using ascenario-based learning approach. The authors’ program is still in the process of

investigates the relationship between Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalDesign (LEED) version 3 credit categories and the overall LEED score of multifamily residentialprojects to discern the actual contribution of each credit category in achieving the overall LEEDscore of the projects. The study compares the actual and the expected contribution of eachcategory in achieving the overall LEED score to understand the success of this system inproviding realistic and practical criteria for evaluating building sustainability and discuss theimplications of the findings for sustainable construction education. Data regarding LEED-certified projects was collected from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) website andanalyzed using multiple regression

for modeling and documentation tasks [2]. The overall31 adoption of BIM in the AECO industry stands at nearly 80% [2]. BIM assists industry professionals32 in improving efficiency, reducing errors, and enhancing communications and collaborations in the33 AECO industry [3], [4], [5]. BIM facilitates collaborations among architects, engineers,34 contractors, and other stakeholders by providing a centralized and accessible platform for project35 information [6]. BIM is also utilized for the early detection of clashes or conflicts in the design,36 reducing the likelihood of errors during construction and minimizing the need for costly rework37 [7]. BIM enables the project stakeholders to better understand the design and make

These skills are essential in the field of construction management. The study assessedLiDAR's effectiveness in enhancing students' learning outcomes in an "Estimating" course by comparingtraditional plan-based learning with LiDAR-assisted learning. Students were tasked with reviewing aconstruction plan and then given access to a LiDAR scan of the same project for virtual exploration andmeasurement. A survey was developed with multiple questions about students’ overall experience, theircomfort level with working with either mode of data delivery, and some basic

postings for top 20 2023 ENR contractors. A total of 186emerging construction 4.0 positions were selected for further analysis. Based on the findings, theresearchers identified four major categories of construction 4.0 positions: ‘virtual design andconstruction,’ (VDC) with the most open positions, followed by ‘design and constructionintegration management,’ (DCIM) ‘lean and industrialized construction’ (LIC) and ‘innovationmanagement’ (IM). VDC as well as DCIM positions are focused on project, mainly design phase, management. However, while VDC positions manage building information modeling, DCIMfocus on a broader scope of information management. LIC positions focus on production andprocess improvement. And IM positions support innovation at the

], [9], [10], [11]. Sustainabilitykey performance indicators (KPIs) are crucial metrics for measuring and tracking sustainabilityperformance [12].Sustainability KPIs must consider the three dimensions of the triple bottom line to effectivelymonitor and evaluate the sustainability performance of construction projects. Environmentalsustainability involves (1) resource efficiency and waste management, including reducing theconsumption of natural resources and waste production, along with the reuse and recycle ofmaterials, as well as considering material sustainability; (2) energy efficiency, which involvesreducing energy use and incentivizing the use of renewable energy; (3) water management; (4)reducing GHG emissions as well as air, water, and

They deliberately opt for substandard or inadequatematerials for material gains or from building owners or project financiers who simply wantto avoid the high cost of materials and best methods.A former General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA, saidthe main reason for building collapse is the non-responsiveness of the building owners tothe building agency's regulations and guidelines and the influx of quackery in the buildingsector.According to him, people flagrantly flout building regulations and approval, saying that iswhy buildings collapse, particularly multistory buildings. Other instructional toolsand teaching methods that could be beneficial are individual and/or group projects, in-personlectures, and co-curricular activities. These results are shown in Figure 9. In addition, expertsmentioned that group education sessions for communities, seminars organized by non-profitorganizations, and brainstorming sessions where low-income individuals can learn abouteducational opportunities would be beneficial in reaching more individuals and enhancinglearning. 5

may pose a challengefor newly employed engineers, construction team members, and workers due to the significantcontrast in environment compared to academia. Furthermore, miscommunication arising fromthis diversity can lead to project delays and diminished work quality [11]. It has been suggestedthat four common reasons lead construction workers to avoid seeking help: “Shame and Stigma”,Fear of Judgment by Peers”, “Fear of Negative Job Consequences”, and “Uncertainty about Howto Access Care” [12]. Therefore, there is a pressing need for future engineers in this field todevelop their skills in effectively communicating with workers.
