Then, a thematic analysis ofreflections provided by the four faculty involved in teaching and developing the courses will bepresented. The analysis will compare the experiences of each faculty member and how thediffering implementation of the courses may have affected those experiences. The combinationof these experiences and reflections will give insight into the variety of ways that mastery-basedgrading and project-based learning can be implemented. For puzzles that did not fit together or were tooloose, students did a reflection on their design problem. The team size was 2. The size limit foreach piece is 1” x 1” x ½”, not including the connector geometry. The blocks can be connectedin various ways. The connector pieces that link the blocks together must all have uniquelydifferent geometry. One must be round or elliptical, one must be triangular, and the other(s) thatthey choose, must be different. The project outcome was assessed, and some improvements wereincorporated in Fall 2024. The CM2 standard provides the framework for the software tools and processesutilized in the course which reinforce concepts, assignments, and projects. Transcripts were reviewed for clarity,with minor edits to correct transcription errors and remove non-verbal filler words.The qualitative analysis followed an inductive, theme-based approach. the course.This will be a mixed-methods study that collects data over the course of three semesters fromfive different institutions: two small private universities in the Pacific northwest, two smallprivate midwestern universities, and one mid-sized private midwestern university. Studentsenrolled in the CAD courses at these universities will be asked to complete a questionnaire at thebeginning of the semester measuring their interest in learning CAD, anticipated motivation tolearn CAD, and prior exposure to CAD.
