comparing the final exam and course scores of the Fall 2015students (those who were just told that electronics were not allowed in the classroom) tothe final exam and course scores (respectively) of students from the Fall of 2016 (thosewho were told electronics were not allowed since studies show use of electronics in theclassroom negatively impacts grades). These two grades were chosen intentionally. To develop skills that extend the basic concepts to solve problems encountered in personal financial situations.The class involves lectures, quizzes, homework assignments, two midterm exams, in-classproblems, and a final exam. The course grade reflects the student performance in six quizzes(20%), two midterm exams (40%), in-class clicker questions (10%), and a final exam (30%). Theinstructor decided not to grade the homework assignments because these assignments proved tobe ineffective in enhancing students’ learning in previous semesters. The instructor noticed thatstudents would receive a high or perfect grade in the homework

semester, we believe there is great value in students working with the two new subjects(Capital Budgeting and VBA) over time and within the same context (the simulation).Development work is distributed throughout the first two-thirds of the semester to create a senseof flow in relation to the topics of the course. After development, students use the remainder ofthe semester to examine peer-reviewed literature in order to find other methods for ranking andselecting projects, to design new or novel approaches to project selection, and to modify thesimulation model to better reflect real-world operating environments. Students then use thesimulation model to perform experiments and test hypotheses related to research objectives theydefine.Of course
