One faculty member mentionedthat neither they nor their associated graduate students or collaborative researchers have theskills, resources, and time available to organize data in a meaningful way. experiences.Dr. Marie C Paretti, Virginia Tech Marie C. Paretti is an Associate Professor of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech, where she co- directs the Virginia Tech Engineering Communications Center (VTECC). Her research focuses on com- munication in engineering design, interdisciplinary communication and collaboration, design education, and gender in engineering. She was awarded a CAREER grant from the National Science Foundation to study expert teaching in capstone design courses, and is co-PI on numerous NSF grants exploring com- munication, design, and identity in engineering. Drawing on theories of situated learning and identity development, her work includes studies on the teaching and learning of communication

libraries can be so fortunate, and must put in extra effort to make their 3D printingservice a successful initiative. Pryor 28 described the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Lovejoy Library’s 3D printing service as a “mixed bag” because of theexpressed excitement from both students and faculty, but relatively low usage numbers. Heposited the reasons could have included a lack of access to 3D modeling software or familiaritywith the creation of 3D models, patrons simply being unaware of 3D model repositories withready to print objects on the web, or the campus community had yet to grasp how 3D printingtechnology can be useful in scholarship, research and other creative activities.
