teams of three to five students each. In 2006-2007, fifteen ID2050 courseswere offered. Prepared with information about projects, with topics ranging from NoiseMonitoring in San Juan, Puerto Rico to Assessing Prepay Water Metering in the InformalSettlements of Windhoek, Namibia, librarians begin to formulate a research plan to guide theproject teams. To assure continuity, as some projects are continuations of prior student work orsponsor assignments, librarians are assigned to specific project centers. Certain faculty serve asProject Center Directors even though instructors of ID2050 courses vary each year. This meansthat librarians have the opportunity to work with different faculty each term, even though theyare assigned to a specific Project

“Relate-Create-Donate.” 1. Relate – “Emphasizes team efforts that involve communication, planning, management and social skills.” Although IRRAE is “Independent,” it flourishes within the context of the MEPP student cohort and benefits from peer review and group expertise in an engineering community of practice. 2. Create – “Students have to define the project (project domain) and focus their efforts on application of ideas to a specific context.” The work for IRRAE is the creation and completion of a useful applied engineering project. 3. Donate – “Stresses the value of making a useful contribution while learning. Ideally, each project has an outside ‘customer’.” IRRAE projects are expected

recorded directlyinto the grade book.At first, the author planned to incorporate a quiz into the video itself. Camtasia software allowsquestions to be inserted into a video which can even be reported directly into a BlackBoardcourse’s grade book. However, four videos would mean four tests, each of which would have tobe connected to each BlackBoard course’s grade book. It was determined to separate the testfrom the videos. The solution was simply to create a test directly in BlackBoard’s test manager. The test was then exported and sent to each faculty member. While some professors are usingthe test as part of their grade for the class, others are using it simply as a tool to see if thestudents have watched the video.Measuring the EffectivenessIn
