nor librarians are mentioned in this paper.Hora and Lee explore the teaching needs of faculty, specifically those in STEM, that haveindustry experience in their Wisconsin Center for Education Research working paper [28]. Thepaper found that industry experience in science, engineering, and technology fields was highlydesired by colleges and universities for teaching positions for several reasons, but chief amongthem, for the “cutting-edge training” they could provide students. While the paper looked atSTEM faculty, it chose to focus on how those faculty with industry experience taught theirstudents cognitive, intra-, and interpersonal skills. Again, since this paper focused on teachingtheir students about skills not related to library research

scholarly journals, we used this natural experiment to spurour exploration of this population’s information seeking behaviors. Would this change in accessimpact the way this community found, accessed, or ultimately used scholarly literature? Wouldthey even notice? The purpose of this research study was to gain a more nuanced understandingof engineering faculty and graduate students’ information seeking behaviors to better understandtheir current practices and needs.Exploring these questions has implications for engineering librarians’ collection developmentand instruction choices. It also has implications for the way access points like link resolvers ormessages about navigating back to a library’s subscription-based resources are designed

inFigure 5 to explore new avenues such as the needs of students with disabilities who are alsoEnglish language learners, or ways the library can support students who struggle with executivefunctioning. Beyond research, there are many avenues for librarians to engage in impactfuloutreach. As Anderson’s study indicated, many autism support entities on campus are notworking with their library, providing an opportunity for outreach and collaboration [56]. As notall campuses have dedicated autism support programs, librarians can engage with student groupsor the campus disability services office. Finally, several articles mentioned a need for greatereducation and training for library staff and student workers [55], [56], [57]. Libraries andprofessional
