However the use of textbook and homeworkproblems stress the categories of knowledge, comprehension and application in Bloom’sTaxonomy7 of cognitive skills. But this mode of instruction is less likely to emphasize thehigher-order cognitive skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. In the laboratory teachingcontrol charts for variables, students must design a control chart that involves select the subgroupsize and the sampling interval.
