Manyworry that the U.S. production of engineering graduates lags well behind that of some notablecompetitor nations, such as China, a shortfall not only in absolute numbers but also in the overallpercentage of college graduates who have an engineering degree.1What has been largely absent from most discussions of the future of the US technical workforceis
