school juniors and seniors intended to establish basicmodeling and simulation skills, the importance of modeling to the solution of engineeringproblems, understanding of the underlying mathematics, and consideration of careers in STEMfields. We summarize the content of the course and the final projects undertaken by the students.Pre- and post-course surveys were used along with student responses to open-ended journalprompts to gauge the success of the course. management.Motivated by a successful experience in a general chemistry course, we have implementedworkshops based on the Peer Led Team Learning (PLTL) model that engages every engineeringstudent enrolled in the introductory chemistry, mathematics, and physics courses through aguided-process and inquiry-based strategy utilizing small group settings.
