expanded their offerings to international graduate stu-dents beyond residential studies. Advances in teaching and learning technology have played a keyrole in enabling remote instruction to these students. In particular, synchronous instruction andengagement with peers within a cohort have been shown to improve the educational experienceand lead to high persistence rates. It has previously been reported that instructional technology can be used to teach a full master’sdegree program in electrical and computer engineering to international graduate students in a syn-chronous fashion. To increase engagement, students study in the program as cohorts and collab-orate in the classroom and in completing a significant engineering project. This technology

during each application cycle. Regardless of the specific academic role, allREEFE participants were integrated into the institution as a part-time visiting faculty member. The expectation was for each REEFE participant to contribute his or her engineering educationexpertise in the assigned role for the improvement of the host institution. REEFE fit the untestedcriterion of the EAGER funding line, because to our knowledge, this program was the first tocreate an on-site, long-term internship for engineering education. The project wasinterdisciplinary by design because the host institutions did not have engineering educationdepartments. We believed REEFE was potentially transformative based on the researchregarding internship experiences and because

Pennsylvania StateUniversity. In its eighth year at the time of this writing, the online MSME program hasexperienced significant growth and over the last five years of the online MSME program hasgone from a total of ~40 students in the program to 130 students. Nearly 50 students havingearned their master’s of science degrees via the online program. This growth is in part due toexplicit theory-driven attention to pedagogy, recruitment, mentoring, and facilitated guidance.Similar to our resident students, our online students have faculty research advisors and conductmasters-level research projects. This research element makes our online MSME program unique. While there is increasingly more written about the modest growth in online engineeringeducation

Although the prompt was not directly related to mental health experiences, discussions included conversations about personal and professional costs of these pursuits, theneed for resiliency, and reliance on social supports [30]. These studies have shown theapplicability of photovoice to answer descriptive research questions about mental healthexperiences.Conducting a Photovoice StudyPhotovoice projects involve several stages, starting with forming the study team. .(2011, para. 3) concisely argue: technical writing is usually not the same as scholarly writing, and scholarly writing is required in most research-based writing projects, such as theses and directed projects. As opposed to being concise, to the point, or having the data speak for themselves, scholarly writing relies on analysis, synthesis, and logical construction of a proposition with appropriate support. Technical writing is generally designed primarily to transmit specific information, while scholarly writing is designed to underpin the creation of new knowledge. Thus, the way in which technical communication programs approach teaching writing—along with debates on whether or not technical writing
