responsibilities, family obligations, etc…) withinthe course schedule [2] or have social interaction preferences [3]. However, challenges do existfrom both the student and instructor perspectives. One study highlighted the online students’frustration due to lack of instruction interaction, inability to chat with peers to clear up questions, and difficult in paying attention online versus in-person [4]. Another study noted the high quantityof planning and preparation required of faculty teaching in a HyFlex mode in order for the learningto be effective [5]; since faculty cannot predict how many students will participate in each formatfor each class session, they may need to make changes on the fly to accommodate group work, forexample.Virtual Synchronous

including significant math andscience requirements and limited degree plan flexibility, the effectiveness of online engineeringprograms might be significantly different than other undergraduate education programsespecially those outside of STEM. Our experience indicates that an online BS pathway attracts adiverse range of students who are traditional underserved by engineering education as discussedin section 4. This paper also documents our outreach approach (section 2) and student success(section 5).As the background on the program, the department offers a BS in Industrial Engineering, a BS inIndustrial Technology, a MS in Engineering (Non-thesis), a MS in Engineering Science, a MS inEngineering Management, and a Doctor of Engineering degree. arduous experience for so many, it provided alearning opportunity for students, faculty, and sponsors alike. When the Spring 2020 term re-started, students were assigned to develop a continuity of operations plan for their project [3].Companies and government agencies use the continuity of operations plan to ensure thatmission-essential functions continue through emergencies. By developing continuity ofoperations plans, students were provided additional insight into project management during anemergency.Besides providing students the opportunity to learn new project management tools, the pandemicalso offered students the chance to develop leadership competencies beyond what is enhancedordinarily. Examples of competencies include being action

variety ofjobs and industries where students planned to work. Moving forward, a pre-class survey will besent out to obtain this information in advance. Then, throughout the semester, assignments(including in-class participation, online discussions, and projects) can be modified to use moreexamples contextualized to student interest.4.3 Improving Access to Knowledge by Building a Supportive EnvironmentAnalysis of the data highlights students’ capacity to improve knowledge access by building asupportive environment. In general, only about 1/3 of the student were specific in their responses.Example quotes are provided here: 10 • “In the future, the way that I will extend my knowledge is to make

lecturing, I can't be reading the chat…But having somebody monitor the chat, and monitor if you have the ability to have people turn on their videos so that you can monitor their facial responses to things, then I think having some of that go on could be very valuable for an online class…to have more human support on the instructor side, to keep people engaged and to keep the pace the way it should be. – P33.2.10. Lessons learnedParticipants were asked to describe overall lessons learned from teaching using the hybrid modeland plans for addressing the issues if they needed to teach under the same settings again. Fiveparticipants said they would require online students to turn on cameras to collect feedback andimprove

lecture notes, textbooks, and in-class research review discussions to build their portfolios.Course Project was a semester-long assignment in which students conducted a usability study ona product of their choice. Students developed a full usability testing plan, a detailed design ofexperiments, a research methodology, then they recruited human subjects to test the usability oftheir chosen product. Students presented their project to the class and submitted a written reportto document their work. Two exams were administered throughout the semester. Exam questions included multiple-choice, true or false, fill in the blanks, and short answer questions. Exam questions covered allthe topics discussed in the classroom with a focus on how knowledge can

the students had already worked in aninternship position using the topics taught in the course and 87.5% had not. However, 41.67% ofthe students plan on using the topics taught in the course during their career or a futureinternship.Course Content. As mentioned previously, we applied different pedagogical methods to aquality control course. This course introduces students to statistical techniques used in thedesign, control, and improvement of quality. In particular, our research focused on two moduleswithin the course: Modeling Process Quality and Interpreting Process Quality. These modulesare a review of students’ prior statistics courses with focus on how these concepts are applicableto quality control. The topics discussed in Modeling

Based onthe findings from focus group discussions, theoretical foundations, and empirical evidence, wewill hypothesize an innovative and integrated technology acceptance model for eLearning. In near future, we will analyze reliability of the models, fitness of the measured models, andconvergent validity by performing confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). We also plan to studyracial bias in E-learning. The framework and outcome of this study provide valuable guidelinesfor ISE departments that allow better understanding of Generation Z students' needs and theiracceptance of e-learning.Introduction and background:The COVID-19
