The initial "core" system thatwas deployed consisted of a limited number of clinical and administrative softwaremodules, which included patient registration, inpatient ADT, outpatient clinic scheduling,pharmacy, laboratory, and radiology. Over the years many additional software moduleswere added, and the DHCP was eventually renamed VISTA. It is built on a client-serverarchitecture, which ties together workstations and personal computers with graphical userinterfaces at Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities, as well as softwaredeveloped by local medical facility staff.
