circuit (I2C) protocol. For labprojects, engineering requirements, software code or flowcharts, and schematics are provided.IntroductionIn an Electrical Engineering Technology program or Computer Engineering Technology program, there are many courses that use embedded systems to meet the program requirements. Theformat for these courses is often to teach C/C++ programming, with embedded hardware andsoftware as a core component to the course. An example is the usage of a Programmable System-on-Chip (PSoC 5LP) device in engineering technology programs for embedded applications [1-2]. This device is programmed in C and utilized in a variety of courses for many laboratoryprojects. Another device is the BeagleBone Black (BBB), which can be programmed

portable lab equipment that can be assigned to a student is needed. When astudent has access to a portable module with sensors and actuators that can be used with aportable PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) trainer, then they are able to completeautomation labs wherever they need to with a similar experience to a face-to-face lab.PLCs, sensors, and actuators are used to automate industrial processes and equipment.Automation labs should provide the opportunity for students to use lab equipment that hassensors and actuators that interact with each other. Such a sensor/actuator module [1] wasdesigned and prototyped, but not deployed to the lab in quantity due to the closure of campus inthe spring of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper

fabrication methods. Assessmentof course learning outcomes through laboratory activities during the first semester of PLC trainerusage is presented. The PLC trainer developed has momentary pushbuttons, indicator lamps, potentiometers, a voltmeter, and sufficient digital and analog inputs and outputs for input/outputdevices on the trainer as well as external devices connected to the trainer.IntroductionThe adjustments that universities have had to make to instructional delivery modes since the startof the pandemic in 2020 have impacted laboratory activities significantly. When our universitywent completely online in the spring of 2020, an online PLC simulator, PLC Fiddle [1] was usedas a substitute for hands on PLC trainers. While this was a decent

Growth in worldfood demand will reflect the population growth, which is anticipated to be around 10 billion

theDepartment of Education.IntroductionThe need to have computer security has been in place for decades, going to back the mainframeand mid-level computers, but then the protection was limited to securing files on a single system. The landscape of computing is changed by the rise of computer networking and the Internet.Computers are now connected by using a wide range of topologies such as the Wide AreaNetwork (WAN), Local Area Network, and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN). The demandfor cybersecurity professionals across the United States is accelerating, according to the newdata published on CyberSeek [1]. Furthermore, the study conducted by Cybersecurity Ventures[2] shows that around 3.5 million cybersecurity worldwide will be unfilled by 2021. The

[1],[2],[3].Several advantages are related to virtual education, such as accessibility and flexibility, studentattendance, affordability, and various learning styles. Accessibility and flexibility are associatedwith the student's opportunity to attend the classes from anywhere, anytime. Also, each coursesession can be recorded for later reference allowing access to students at convenient times. Giventhat online courses can be taken from any location, students avoid missing classes; thus, attendanceis improved [4]. The increased affordability is related to reducing students’ external financial costssuch as transportation, food, rent, apartment, and printed materials during these restricted times. Avariety of learning styles is correlated to
