Logic Controller (PLC) trainerthat can be assigned to a student for the semester. The portable PLC trainer allows students tohave a satisfactory laboratory experience across various modes of instructional delivery.PLCs are used to automate industrial equipment and processes and are frequently used inlaboratory activities in an automation course. At a minimum, a portable PLC trainer should becompact, have protection for the trainer components, provide user interface input and outputdevices, and the PLC programming software should be available for students to install on theirown personal computers. This paper presents the design and development of a portable PLC trainer including therequirements for the trainer, component selection rationale, and

, protocols, and hardware. Most of the laboratory activities for ENGR 382 involve programming a programmable logiccontroller (PLC) that is part of a PLC Trainer. See the Appendix for high-level descriptions ofthe laboratory activities related to the Sensor/Actuator Module.PLC TrainerThe portable PLC trainer (see Figure 2) used for this course is based around anAutomationDirect CLICK PLC, 16-point discrete input module, and 8-point relay output module[12]. There are six lighted momentary pushbuttons, two potentiometers (connected to analoginputs), and a voltmeter (connected to an analog output).Figure 2: CLICK PLC TrainerThere are twenty digital inputs, twelve digital outputs, four analog inputs (0 V to 10 V), and twoanalog outputs (0 V to 10 V) on the

scheduled to be launched in Fall 2021. We plan to offer Information Security Fundamentals, Mobile Computing and Network Defense and Counter measures. All courses offered in the area of Cybersecurity have a strong laboratory component to provide hands-on experience to the students. The following paragraphs will discuss some of the lab components of Network Defense and Counter Measures course [7]. Network Defense and Counter Measures Lab Structure: The instructor took a course in the basics of Cybersecurity and has done extensive research to learn the labs offered by SEED for security education. The development of SEED labs was funded by three grants from the US National Science Foundation; Awards No. 0231122 and 0618680 from TUES/CCLI and Award No
