assisted in changing the current UNIV 1301 course from a teacherdominated instruction and philosophy course to a more student learning centered,engaging, hands-on, engineering problem solving course that improved student-facultyinteraction and student motivation. Although some basic manufacturing technologies werebe used to build products, a majority of the course included hands-on activities aimed atimproving understanding of the ‘Engineering Design Process’ as part of a semester longteam project.
