engineering students should provide at least five things to lead to students’further academic success and prepare them for the job market: 1) material mastery, 2)communication, and collaboration, 3) software/programming skills, 4) learning andmetacognition, and 5) confidence. Students in traditional lecture-based classrooms may not betaught these skills [1][2]. Numerous studies have shown that active and cooperative learningclasses are better at addressing these than traditional lecture-based classes [3]. Some examples ofActive learning (AL) and Cooperative learning (CL) [4] are 1) Flipped classroom, 2) Studentpresentation, 3) Student projects, 4) Student discussion, and 5) Student group work.A traditional calculus class is often content-driven and

. It is also core to the understanding of numerous probability distributions instatistics, hence, fundamental knowledge of this concept is crucial for a successful career inscience, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The proposed experiment will ease thecomplexities involved in the learning of calculus students by using experimental centric pedagogy(ECP), which entails providing simple yet relevant experiments that would boost the students’interest in this field. The concepts of differentiation and integration would be practicallydemonstrated to students using Hooke’s law, velocity, acceleration with respect to time, and rulerexperiment. The project would employ readily available utilities to demonstrate integration anddifferentiation

He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in information technologies applied to education. He also has a vast teaching experience in mathematics for engineering, which has led him to obtain multiple ex- cellence teaching awards. His research area is engineering education, where he has worked on numerous research projects to improve students’ academic performance and motivation. Additionally, he collabo- rates with the SENACYT (Secretar´ıa Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnolog´ıa) as National Contact Point (NCP) in the CELAC (Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos) group to promote research infrastructures

developing a curriculum based oncontextualized applications and the development of materials that can be used by teachers.Considering these points, this article aims to show which were the subsidies adopted in [14]for the elaboration of a problem articulating mathematics with other areas of knowledge - aproblem that, in Mathematics in the Context of Sciences Theory is called ContextualizedEvent - to teach eigenvalues and eigenvector in Control and Automation Engineeringprograms. For Camarena [15], Contextualized Event are problems or projects with the purpose ofintegrating mathematical contents with the specific contents of the undergraduate program inwhich it is being performed. It is important to emphasize that in this article the focus is not on
